DECEMBER NEWSLETTER
Happy Holidays from your AFSG Board of Directors:
The Holiday Season is here. Time to enjoy getting together with Family and Friends and ring in the New Year……..
Speaking of the New Year,
2025 DUES ARE NOW DUE!!!
The AFSG operates on a calendar year and as of today only 72 Members have paid dues for 2025. This is out of a total membership of 206 people who have been members in the past year.
Please take a moment and renew your membership as soon as you can.
If at all possible, we encourage you to pay dues online via our website. It’s a fairly simple process. Go to www.armedforcessupportgroup.org and click on the “Membership Application” tab. Fill in the information and you’re done!
Our payment system is called Stripe, and unlike other systems (PayPal etc.) it does not keep any bank or credit card information.
Creating an account gives members full access to all of the other information posted on the website such as archived newsletters, monthly financial reports, upcoming events and logo merchandise purchases.
As always, you can pay dues by check. Mail it to:
19753 N. Remington Drive
Surprise, AZ 85374
2025 CHARITY GOLF EVENT
Our Annual Charity Golf Event is being held on March 7th and 8th 2025.
WE NEED YOUR HELP!!!
To make this event a success we need volunteers.
People are needed to sell raffle tickets at the morning and afternoon “shotgun” starts at the Granite Falls, Cimarron and Desert Springs golf courses.
We will be receiving the schedule from the Golf Staff soon and make it available on the website. We are working with the webmaster to make it possible for you to sign up to sell tickets via the site. More details to follow.
We will also send everyone an email with the dates. Please donate your time and help us with this very important part of our fund-raising effort.
Volunteers are needed to make phone calls to previous years sponsors asking them to renew their sponsorship. We will provide a list of names and phone numbers.
PEASE CONSIDER BECOMING, RENEWING AND FINDING NEW SPONSORS.
Sponsorship levels begin at $250.00 for a Hole Sponsor. Other levels range from $1000 to $1500 Dollars.
Sponsors can make their checks out to one of our 501 ( c ) 3 Foundations and receive all the available tax deductions for their contribution.
RAFFLE PRIZES NEEDED!!!!
Historically, our largest source of revenue has come from raffle ticket sales. Like any raffle, success depends on the cause it supports and the prizes that are offered. Help us make this years raffle the best ever by contacting potential donors and asking for their support. This can include restaurants, retail shops, golf venues, service providers…. etc. Your help is greatly appreciated.
VETERAN COFFEE CHAT
The December Veterans Coffee Chat was held on Tuesday, December 10th in the Mesquite Room. AFSG member Barry MacKean gave a fabulous presentation and spoke of his days flying the SR-71 “Blackbird”. Every one of the approximately 30 people there, were amazed to hear about the capabilities of this remarkable aircraft.
Thank you to Eileen Joy for bringing the coffee and donuts.
Our next Veterans Coffee Chat is being held on Tuesday, January 14th 2025 at 8 AM in the Apache Room. Speaker TBD.
PEARL HARBOR REMEMBRANCE DAY EVENT
On December 7th the Grand Flag Detail and CAM Activities held a ceremony to Remember and Honor those who gave their lives at Pearl Harbor as well as all other Veterans of WWII. The ceremony was held at the Veterans Monument with over 200 people in attendance. The AFSG presented our Challenge Coins to WWII Veterans and some family members of Veterans.
Thank you to the Flag Detail and CAM for holding this solemn event.
DECEMBER AFSG SOCIAL
Also on December 7th, the Group held a “Pot Luck” Social in the Apache Room. Thirty-six Members attended the event. Many new members of AFSG were there. It was a fun evening of meeting and socializing.
Our next social is planned for April 10th 2025. Details will be in future newsletters. We hope to see you all there.
