January 2025

JANUARY NEWSLETTER

Happy New Year.  We hope that this newsletter finds you and your families Happy and Healthy as 2025 begins.

Speaking of the New Year, again, if this newsletter looks very familiar, that’s because a lot of the topics remain THE priorities for the AFSG Board of Directors.

2025 DUES ARE NOW DUE!!!

The AFSG operates on a calendar year and as of today only 86 Members have paid dues for 2025. This is out of a total membership of 206 people who have been members in the past year.  Dues are still only $30/Couple or $20/Individual

To retain our status as a Charter Club in The Grand we must maintain at least 100 members!!!

Please take a moment and renew your membership as soon as you can.

If at all possible, we encourage you to pay dues online via our website.  It’s a fairly simple process.  Go to www.armedforcessuooprtgroup.org and click on the “Membership Application” tab.  Fill out the information and you’re done!

Our payment system is called Stripe, and unlike other systems (PayPal etc.) it does not keep any bank or credit card information.

Creating an account gives Members full access to all of the information posted on the website such as archived newsletters, monthly financial reports, upcoming events and logo merchandise purchases as well as Board meeting minutes and all decisions that are made with Club monies

As always, you can pay dues by check.  Mail it to:

19753 N. Remington Drive

Surprise, AZ  85374

2025 CHARITY GOLF EVENT

Our Annual Charity Golf Event is being held on March 7th and 8th 2025.

WE NEED YOUR HELP!!!

To make this event a success we need volunteers.

People are needed to sell raffle tickets at the morning and afternoon “shotgun” starts at the Granite Falls, Cimarron and Desert Springs golf courses.  I have attached a list of dates for raffle ticket sales.  Please help us out and sign up.  It’s just a few hours at a time and it is our biggest source of revenue for all of our 501 (c3) Charities.

PLEASE SIGN UP TO SELL RAFFLE TICKETS!!!

We are also sending everyone an email with the raffle ticket signup schedule. . Please donate your time and help us with this very important part of our fund-raising effort. You can view the schedule and send your preference for times and dates to [email protected]

PEASE CONSIDER BECOMING, RENEWING OR FINDING NEW SPONSORS.

Volunteers are needed to make phone calls to previous years sponsors asking them to renew their sponsorship.  We will provide a list of names and phone numbers. Sponsorship levels begin at $250.00 for a Hole Sponsor.  Other levels range from $1000 to $15000 Dollars.

Sponsors can make their checks out to one of our 501 (c) 3 Foundations and receive all the available tax deductions for their contribution.

RAFFLE PRIZES NEEDED!!!!

Historically, our largest source of revenue has come from raffle ticket sales.  Like any raffle, success depends on the causes it supports and the prizes that are offered. Help us make this year’s raffle the best ever by contacting potential donors and asking for their support.  This can include restaurants, retail shops, golf venues, service providers…. etc.  Your help is greatly appreciated.

To those who have already Sponsored or donated prizes, THANK YOU!!!

FEBRUARY 4TH MEMBERSHIP MEETING

SAVE THE DATE!!!!

The second (final) Membership meeting of the year will be held on February 4th!

Special guest speaker is Surprise Mayor Kevin Sartor

Mayor Sartor will address his vision for the City and his plans for our Veterans

We really need to have a good turnout for this meeting, so PLEASE, PLEASE make every effort to attend this very important event.

VETERAN COFFEE CHAT

The January Veterans Coffee Chat was held on Tuesday, January 14th in the Apache Room.  AFSG member Joe Scanlon gave a great presentation to about 28 AFSG members and guests and spoke of his experience while on an “Honor Flight Arizona” trip to Our Nation’s Capital. Thank you, Joe, for a very enlightening presentation.  We hope all Veterans consider taking one of these flights. Please contact us for the Honor Flight AZ contact information.

Thank you again, to Eileen Joy for bringing the coffee and donuts.

Our next Veterans Coffee Chat is being held on Tuesday, February 11th 2025 at 8 AM in the Apache Room. Speaker TBD.
